In a remarkable instance of stupidity, The High Power Rifle Committee has done away with the requirement to start the rapid fire stages from the standing position. It seems that after passing an amendment that allowed seniors 60 years of age and older to remain in the sitting or prone position at the end of their preparation period and prior to the start of the rapid fire stages, crybabies complained that it was unfair to the rest of the competitors. With no regard for the tradition and essence of what this competition is about (does anyone on this committe actually shoot high power competition?) and in a quest for equality to all, the committee has elected to let everyone remain in the sitting and prone position. The command, "shooters rise" no longer exists. The command "with 2 or 8 rounds you may load" no longer exists. Ammunition must be on the ground or stool and not on the competitor or in his hands prior to the commence fire command. The rifle must not be held in the shoulder prior to the commence fire command. After the commence fire command, shooters will retrieve their ammunition, load, and fire. The rifle need not be in the shoulder before closing the bolt. (Rule 10.1.7)
