A beginner or person starting out can improvise by using a heavy jacket (army jacket works well) with one or two sweatshirts worn under, a heavy glove and a piece of carpet or cardboard that can be used as a mat. Also a 5 gallon plastic bucket to rest your rifle on and tote your gear in. A U.S.G.I. M1 web sling is legal and the spotting scope can be omitted. If you go to our "Free Targets" page, you can download actual size scoring ring targets that will print on standard size copy paper to practice with.

If you have never done this before, fear not as we will take you through it step by step. Instruction is given before the start of each stage. Targets and score cards will be provided.

Our tournaments are NRA sanctioned and approved they will count for classification. A new competitor after completing 3 matches will be classified by his skill level based on his average by the NRA. He will receive a high power rifle classification card in the mail. The classifications are: Marksman, Sharpshooter, Master and High Master.

After initial classification, the average of 5 matches or 240 rounds fired in competition will be used to determine if a competitor is reclassified upwards. If you would like to check the current status of your classification, click on the link on the side bar and type your classification number in

We are affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program. After completing a match you will be eligible to purchase rifles from the CMP.

Our range is 100 yds. We use reduced targets that simulate 200, 300 and 600 yards. If you have any questions on any of this, email: [email protected]
